National regeneration agency wins unique lifetime award

National regeneration agency English Partnerships has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to regeneration and innovation in housebuilding, in a unique lifetime achievement award.

This one-off award, the 2008 Housebuilder Special Award, was formally presented to English Partnerships at the Housebuilding Innovation Awards, on 23rd October in London, by broadcaster John Humphreys. This annual event recognises excellence in innovation in the housebuilding sector.

Launched less than two years ago, Burdens Environmental – the explicitly ‘green’ arm of Burdens– has added a new product to its increasing range of environmentally friendly products. Called ‘Eco Paint’, and available in a range of 37 colours, this new product avoids the irritation and health problems that conventional gloss paints and emulsion paints can cause through the in-built solvents.

Green energy plan for 45,000 homes from British Waterways

British Waterways has unveiled green energy plans to generate energy on its waterways.

Plans to generate power from wind turbines and hydro schemes alongside canals and rivers across the country have been unveiled.

Wind Turbines & Micro Hydro

British Waterways set a target of building 50 wind turbines and an unspecified number of small-scale hydro schemes over the next five years, with the capacity to generate enough electricity to power 45,000 homes.
