Green Building Council: Green Code Plan for non-domestic buildings
The UK Green Building Council has launched an industry wide consultation to look at what type of code is needed to achieve a 2019 zero-carbon target for non-residential buildings.
GBC chief executive Paul King said: "With the upcoming Government consultation on zero carbon non-domestic buildings, this is an ideal moment to take stock and consider what kind of code and ratings tools we need for the future."
The consultation process is expected to run from July to February and be led by a task group – the group will then present its final proposal at the UK GBC conference in March 2009.
The task group will look at what core sustainability standards should be contained within a code for sustainable buildings and how that code should be developed and implemented and how to ensure alignment with international rating tools.
